New cooperation for automated marking and coding processes
60 million cars and 15 million commercial vehicles produced every year have one thing in common: they all have an unchangeable serial number (Vehicle Identification Number) for unique identification and traceability. Laser specialist Trotec Laser and automation specialist ATN will be pooling their expertise in the future to offer customers from the automotive industry and other sectors state-of-the-art solutions for automated marking and coding processes.
Show Application at the new FANUC location
When the new FANUC site in Wörth-Wiesent is officially opened on March 19 and 20, 2025, a show application of VIN marking from Trotec Laser and ATN can also be experienced. In addition to many new applications from and with FANUC, visitors and customers can learn more about new developments or technologies for the manufacturing industry on the opening days and throughout the year.
The Trotec Laser and ATN show system will demonstrate the automated sample application of a full VIN marking with a self-selected 17-digit vehicle identification number by the Trotec Laser VIN marker moved by a FANUC Robot CRX-20iA/L collaborative robot. Integration laser for reliable depth engraving
Laser engraving is an alternative to conventional scribing processes with needle embossers. They enable reliable laser engraving of a vehicle identification number or other markings on a wide variety of metals or materials.
Non-contact laser engraving does not require the component to be fixed, avoids scratching or damaging the components and prevents the engraving from smudging. Needle breakage, as with the scribe embossing process, is also ruled out and time-consuming set-up times are reduced. With an application time of 15 seconds for a 17-digit serial number and 2 special characters, laser engraving is a fast, reliable and efficient solution for engraving processes. Thanks to the robust housing, the VIN-Marker with IP 54 protection class is also suitable for harsh environments. The Safetycone module enables maximum laser safety and at the same time effectively removes particles and smoke, which means that a safety housing is not necessary.
