The importance of VIN-Marking
Every year, 60 million cars and 15 million commercial vehicles are produced with a unique serial number, known as a VIN (vehicle identifciation number), for clear identification and traceability.
In the automotive industry, this 17-digit marking is crucial for the unique identification of vehicles. ATN offers two processes for VIN-Marking, tailored to your requirements: conventional engraving or state-of-the-art laser technology.
Choose from two solutions for VIN-Marking
System Technology Scribing
For precise scribing of components and workpieces, you benefit from the modular system technology of the scribing embossers. VIN-Marking is performed by a diamond needle that is pneumatically pressed into the component surface, displacing material locally and altering the metal structure beneath the needle tip.
The tip can be moved in the x and y directions, leaving a continuous indentation in the material. To complete the VIN-Marking for your comprehensive process solution, the system can be expanded to include cleaning, the removal and disposal of chips or quality control.
The biggest advantage for you is the fully automatic design of the system, which allows it to be integrated into line production and flow operations. Car bodies, engines, housings, or plant components are thus marked fully automatically.
Integration laser for safe deep engraving
ATN is now expanding its portfolio to include automated solutions for laser engraving of serial and vehicle identification numbers. VIN-Marking does not require the component to be fixed in place, as the marking is contact-free. This prevents scratching or damaging of components. This means a reduction in costly setup and rework times for our customers.
With an application time of 15 seconds for 17-digit VIN, laser engravig is a sage an fast alternative. Maximum safety is ensured by various safety modules such as the SafetyCone.
